Benefit Some-Kind-Of Gorgeous/That Gal Primer REVIEW

Hey Everyone,

So like most people, I am a sucker for those impulse buys at Ulta and Sephora. I decided to buy the Benefit Some-Kind Of Gorgeous Foundation and That Gal brightening primer to try out. I got this little duo for $12 and I got them in the medium shade.

Here is my face with absolutely no foundation or primer. I do have eyeshadow, eyeliner and a little bit of mascara on and thats it!! So I do have some redness and hyperpigmentation in my face.

Lets start with the primer. That Gal primer states that it is an illuminating and brightening primer. It is a creamy pink colored primer. I used my fingers and applied this by patting into my skin rather than just rubbing it in which I do with all my primers. Full size price is $29.00

My personal feelings is that I do not really feel like it illuminated or brightened my face. Maybe slightly? It did however keep my foundation on all day which is what I want it to do.

My face with just That Gal primer. Am I illuminized!?

The benefit Some-Kind-Of-Gorgeous foundation comes in this cute “record” packaging which is very cute. They call this a “foundation faker”. Really all it is is a cream to powder foundation. It states that is leaves your face feels silky and evens out your complexion. The full size price is $30.00.

I again used my fingers to apply and blend it in.

Here are the results:

So I believe it got rid of a little bit of my redness and evened out my skin slightly but it definitely is NOT a full coverage heavy foundation. I would say this is a medium coverage foundation. It felt nice going on and my skin did not have a reaction to it.

I tried to build on the coverage as well but it did not seem very buildable. Also the smell of this product smells like plasticy and I really do not like the smell.

NOW HERE IS AN ADDED BONUS!!!

I also have the Milani Cream to Powder foundation which is a great alternative and wanted to give you a comparison. It comes in nice packaging. It has a sponge applicator underneath it and a mirror above the product.

I have the Milani Cream to Powder foundation in 07 Medium Beige. I applied this the exact same way as the Some-Kind-Of-Gorgeous foundation.  I also used the That Gal primer with this foundation for comparison.

As you can see, there is more coverage. I also feel like it gave me more a dewy finish. This Milani foundation also seems to have a yellow-undertone unlike the Some-Kind-Of-Gorgeous has more of a pink-undertone.

I do have to tell you about the smell with Milani foundation. Personally, I almost feel like it smells like bakers chocolate…..or maybe I am just craving it but I swear it has a very distinct chocolate smell.

You can get this product at a CVS or anywhere else they sell Milani products. This product was around $8.

Here are all the pictures next to each other so you can see the difference!

Oh! I will most definitely have to try the Milani! I have been using Benefits "Hello Flawless" powder, but I go through it EVERY two weeks! I am looking for a full coverage powder that won't break the bank! Benefit is $38 bucks…maybe that can inspire a post! 🙂

Thanks! Let me know! I love it, but I go through it SO QUICKLY!! I love the full coverage look. I have tried physicians formula loose powder before, and I have to constantly re-apply it! Let me know your thoughts!
